DESCENT, A Musical
Book by P.J. Griffith
Music & Lyrics by Eve Beglarian & Phil Kline

In 1938, two weeks after crash landing with her alcoholic co-pilot on an uninhabited island in the Pacific, a celebrity pilot recalls her distant relationship with her husband/manager and her torrid affair with a free-spirited showgirl. The piece unfolds in story and song, and takes place both on the ground and in the air.
The song lyrics of Descent are adapted from the poetry of Pierre Louÿs, a fin-de-siècle French poet who claimed to be translating ancient Greek lesbian poetry, but in fact he made it all up himself.
Here are three songs from Descent.
